Powder Room Project · Phoenix
Sunken Wet Bar Filled In, With a New Powder Room and Walk-In Closet
This Phoenix home had a sunken wet bar set into the main living area, surrounded by railings and a step down. The homeowners wanted that space back as usable floor, plus a powder room and a walk-in closet the house did not have.
We framed out the sunken area to bring it up to the level of the surrounding floor, then framed a small powder room and a closet back to back in the space it opened up.
From framing to a finished room: about a week and a half.

Five Steps
Construction Sequence
01
01The sunken area framed up to floor level, with the new walls for the powder room and closet standing. Drain and supply lines run in before anything is closed up.
02
02The new wall is hung and taped.
03
03Inside the new framing. The powder room and closet sit back to back, sharing one wall.
04
04Floor tile set with a leveling system so the large-format tiles finish flat across every joint.
05
05The finished powder room: a fluted walnut vanity, matte black fixtures and a full-height cactus mural.
The Result
Reclaimed Space That Feels Original
The hard part of a job like this is not building the new rooms. It is making them look like they were always there.
“We had a great experience working with Avi and DYS Construction AZ on a fairly extensive renovation of our home.
The project included filling in and leveling a sunken wet bar area, adding a new powder room, and building a walk-in closet. We worked directly with Avi throughout the project and he was responsive, professional, and kept us informed as the work progressed.
What impressed us most was how well everything blended with the existing house. You would never know the wet bar area had previously been sunken, and the new powder room and walk-in closet look like they were always part of the original floor plan.
We're very happy with the quality of the work and how everything turned out. We would definitely work with Avi and DYS Construction AZ again.”
